Adopt a River for Sustainable Development
SAFI Kenya
In partnership with Rotary International and UNEP, SAFI mobilized local communities across Kisumu County to restore polluted rivers in the Lake Victoria Basin. This collaborative initiative didn't just clean waterways—it built community ownership of environmental stewardship, improved water quality for thousands, enhanced local biodiversity, and created a model for sustainable resource management that other regions can replicate.
"River Nanga that once threatened our health now sustains our community. We've learned that caring for our environment means caring for our future."

IMPACT STORIES
COVID-19 Community Support Initiative

When the pandemic threatened food security, SAFI responded swiftly by providing nutritious food supplies to Orongo Orphanage and vulnerable women's groups in Kisumu. This intervention reached children, women, and families during their most challenging moments, ensuring access to nutritious meals while strengthening community bonds and resilience during unprecedented uncertainty.
IMPACT STORIES
Clean Water, Brighter Futures
At local primary schools in Kisumu, SAFI installed comprehensive rainwater harvesting systems with storage tanks and distribution taps. These systems transformed daily life for students and staff, providing reliable access to clean water, improving hygiene practices, reducing waterborne diseases, and creating better learning environments where children can focus on education rather than water collection.
